Whoah - check out Boku (Kodu before it was Kodu) in 2007

Look at that ground texture ... look at that draw distance ... look at that real tree.

Hmmm ... does that mean some of that power is still under the hood?


  1. Wow, I'm having flashbacks. At the time of that video Boku was just over 3 months old and we'd been cramming like crazy to get it ready for the TechFest demo. The huge draw distance doesn't really exist, that's just an environment map with the ocean/islands on it. At the time the terrain was a simple height map with blended textures. For certain types of games it looks more "real" but it's not nearly as flexible as the current terrain system.

  3. I like the idea of what looks like palm tree's too. Interesting to see what happened from conceptual to where Kodu is today!
